The Dobermann originated in Germany and to this day breeding practices are carefully
monitored by the DV (German Club). In Europe not just the appearance of the
Dobermann is important, but rather their temperament and character as well.
The quality of each litter is monitored and breeding restrictions are very prevalent.
The necessity for the ZTP test has helped to keep the temperament of the German
Dobermann true. It is for these reasons (among many others) that we breed European
lines. We offer domestically bred puppies from quality European lines.
Over the past years, technology has allowed us to perform various health tests
to help screen our dogs for genetic disorders. We perform the following health
tests on all of our breeding stock, Heart, hips, eyes, DNA-vWd, and thyroid.
Additionally all breeding dogs must display adequate courage and good temperament. Our
females are only bred once a year (or every other heat cycle), their first litter
usually being whelped after 2 years of age. Allowing the female to have a rest
between litters helps to ensure that she will maintain optimum health.
Our
Dobermanns are not just breeding dogs, they are treated as members of our family.
It is for this reason we retire our bitches from breeding at an early age between
6-1/2-7. This helps to ensure their health so that they may live out a full
and long life. After our dogs retire from breeding, they stay with us for the
rest of their life.
We realize the importance of balance within this breed, for this reason we never
breed for one trait alone. Our priorities are closely related but health and
temperament definitely come first. Beauty and poise are also important but not
at the expense of health.
The pedigrees held by our dogs have within them several World Champions, International
Champions, European Champions, and more. As we appreciate the dedication involved
to put such titles on these wonderful dogs, we also feel it is important to
acknowledge many of our beautiful dobes that live in families strictly as pets.
We maintain our focus on breed quality to ensure that you will get a healthy
Dobermann that is correct according to the standards. We strive for that balance
that is required to maintain a sound Dobermann.
"We do not advocate the breeding of Albino Dobermanns"
Our
bloodlines are based on some of the top breeding lines in the world. The progress
of many dogs within our bloodlines has been recorded and in many cases can be
traced back to the early 1900's.
