Dobereich Dobermanns

Our bloodlines are based from some of the top breeding lines of the World. The progress of many dogs within our bloodlines can be traced back to the early 1900's.

The Dobermann (Doberman Pinscher) originated and developed in Germany, where the quality of each dog and litter was carefully monitored by the DV (Dobermann Verein). Ethical breeding practices are still strictly implemented by the DV today in order to ensure that the breed does not suffer any decline in breed quality.

The European standard does not only focus on appearance, there is a austere focus on temperament and character as well. Over the years the German “ZTP” (fit for breed test) has helped to keep the temperament and type of the Dobermann true. Several other European countries follow similar ethics and it is for this reason (among many others) that we continue to raise Dobermanns from these well proven lines.

We continue to work hard to uphold the standards of quality that were set by our predecessors. Our dog’s pedigrees hold within them several World Champions, International Champions, European Champions, and more. Although it is a personal goal to promote and achieve winning titles on our dogs, we also feel it is important to acknowledge the need for beautiful dobes that will live in family homes as loving well-tempered pets.

We maintain a strict focus on breed quality to ensure that you will get a healthy Dobermann that is correct according to the standards both physically and mentally. We strive for balance in order to maintain a sound Dobermann. For this reason health and temperament always come first. Beauty and poise are also very important, however never at the expense of soundness and health.

We perform the following health tests on all of our breeding stock;

Our Dobermanns are annual participants in the study against DCM at the University of Guelph Heart program for Dobermanns (Ultrasound and ECG). All breeding stock is screened for hip dysplasia, thyroid disease, and eye disease, and are vWd DNA tested. Additionally all breeding dogs must display adequate courage, social demeanor, and good over-all temperament.

Our Dobermanns are not just breeding dogs, they are raised as members of our family and have an excellent quality of life. We retire our bitches from breeding at an early age (between 6-7) in order to maximize their ability to live out a full and healthy life. Dogs that are retired younger then this may be placed for adoption, otherwise our retired females will stay with us for the rest of their lives.

We do not breed our females before the age of 2 years and they will typically only whelp 3-4 litters in their lifetime. Females are not bred back to back (every heat cycle) and will not have more then one litter a year. Allowing the female to have a rest heat between litters helps to ensure that she will maintain optimum health and contributes to a healthy litter of puppies.

Stud males may breed at an earlier age then females and remain active in a breeding program for as long as they are physically able to produce. Stud service is only available to club registered kennels that we approve of and that present quality bitches who meet the same conformation & health standards that we have personally set within our own breeding program.
